What to do?

Céreste is a quaint village situated at the foothills of the Luberon, this majestic mountain range that stretches 60 km to the east and west, separating the two valleys of Calavon and Durance. The natural Regional Park gets its name from the Luberon. Nature here is preserved, rich and diverse with a wide variety of exceptional fauna and flora.

Numerous outdoor activities range from easy walks to athletic circuits: hiking trails (2 GR cross the town), a nearby cycle track, an equestrian farm 2 km away offering horse rides. Play a game of tennis or experience traditional petanque.

Discover a region rich in villages that are still standing after hundreds of years, nestled safely inside tall castle-like walls: Viens, Simiane la Rotonde, Banon or Sault. Further east in Digne: a geological reserve, the museum of the great lady explorer Alexandra David Neel, and the gallery of the fascinating artwork of Goldsworthy. Visit the amazing gorge of the Verdon, Moustiers. Go canoeing on the lakes.

On the west side, you can tour famous sites such as the villages of Gordes, Roussillon or Bonnieux, the resurgence of the Fontaine de Vaucluse, Senanque Abbey, Thouzon Cave, Isle sur Sorgue and its antique market. A little further, the medieval castle city of Avignon and its well known Festival (July) and Palace of Popes. Heading south, you’ll find the renaissance castle in Lourmarin (Albert Camus’s last home), then Aix-en-Provence. And about an hour’s drive, in front of Sainte Victoire Mountain, you may follow the steps of painter Cezanne and of many other well known writers, painters, photographers...

L’arbre à papillons look forward to welcoming you to the magic of Provence.
